About North Pixel

A small applied AI studio based in Tokyo.

Who we are

We're a small team of engineers and product designers focused on practical AI adoption. We believe that AI should work for people—not the other way around.

Founded in 2022, we've worked with startups and established companies across various industries to help them integrate AI into their products and operations.

We stay small because we think it's the best way to maintain quality. We only take on a few projects at a time, so we can be directly involved in every step.

Why "North Pixel"?

The name comes from two ideas we care about:

North represents direction. Like a compass pointing north, we help teams find their way through the complexity of AI adoption. It's about staying focused on the real goal instead of chasing every new trend.

Pixel represents the building blocks. Every great digital product is made of many small, carefully crafted details. We believe great AI systems come from getting the small things right.

Our approach

  • Start with the problem, not the solution — We don't force AI into places it doesn't belong. If your problem can be solved with a simpler approach, we'll tell you.
  • Iterate quickly with working software — We'd rather have a working prototype in a week than a 50-page specification in a month.
  • Keep humans in the loop — We design AI systems that augment people, not fully replace them—at least for now.
  • Build maintainable systems — We write clean, well-documented code that your team can actually maintain after we hand it off.
  • Prioritize data privacy — We have extensive experience building private, on-premise AI deployments where data never leaves your infrastructure.

How we choose projects

We look for projects where we can actually make an impact. We're more likely to work with you if:

  • You have a clear problem you're trying to solve
  • You're looking to ship something within 1-3 months
  • Your team is ready to collaborate closely
  • You care about quality and long-term maintainability

We turn down projects that are outside our area of expertise, or when our plate is full. Quality beats quantity.
